Applied Signal Technology (AST) specifically is looking for engineers passionate about strengthening the nation and improving global security through trusted SIGINT solutions. AST's work in areas like high-capacity broadband communications, signal processing, tactical SIGINT, and wireless communications challenges engineers to solve problems and enhance safety. This specific role is for a Software Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT, who is proactive, decisive, and generates ideas to drive product development. Responsibilities cover the full product development lifecycle, including architecture, design, integration, testing, and field support. The intern will contribute to building, testing, and delivering software applications for advanced systems processing modern communications for the U.S. Government. A solid understanding of programming practices, software architecture, and networking is expected.

Requirements

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Experience developing in C++ in a Linux environment.
Experience with one or more scripting languages, Python, Linux script, bash.
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Object Oriented Design and Development.
Software development experience (i.e. internship, co-op, or other work or academic project experience).
Experience working both in a team environment and individually.

Responsibilities

Work on complex technical problems while participating on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams.
Contribute to the build, test, and delivery of a set of software applications to be deployed to advanced systems that process modern communications for the U.S. Government.
Work under the guidance of a product lead and team members who will assist in establishing an approach, perform code review, and support in testing.
