About The Position

Melius is building the agents lab for creative work, developing agentic interfaces for the creation of images, video, audio, and more. Their platform includes a generative media canvas, timeline editor, and asset manager, designed to empower creatives by moving beyond traditional, constraining tools. The company is backed by prominent venture capital firms and founded by experienced individuals from Ramp and top-tier investment firms. Melius operates with speed, ships daily, and values craftsmanship. This internship is designed to provide interns with the experience of a full-time engineer, offering opportunities to lead projects and educate both customers and team members. The technology stack includes Next.js and a real-time CRDT canvas on the frontend, and NestJS, MikroORM, Postgres, Temporal, and Turbopuffer on the backend, along with an agent and model orchestration layer.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience building real-world projects such as side projects, open-source contributions, or previous internships where work was shipped.
  • Comfortable with TypeScript, or capable of becoming effective in it within a week.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) beyond basic chat interactions.
  • Familiarity with concepts like tool-calling, agent frameworks, React Flow, Yjs/CRDTs, or similar technologies.
  • Attention to detail regarding user experience.
  • Comfort with uncertainty and a fast-paced, potentially volatile startup environment.
  • A proactive attitude towards shipping and getting work done.

Responsibilities

  • Building new end-to-end agent tools for the canvas, timeline editor, and asset manager.
  • Shipping fixes within the same hour of identifying user issues during user sessions.
  • Adding evaluations and traces to monitor agent performance improvements.
  • Polishing canvas interactions that are frequently used by creatives.
