About The Position

The Executive Director, Software Engineering will lead the strategy, delivery, modernization, and operational performance of technology platforms supporting DTCC’s Fixed Income business. The role oversees globally distributed engineering teams responsible for modernizing and migrating Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC) technology platforms and services to the public cloud. It combines accountability for mission-critical production services with a transformation agenda focused on cloud adoption, platform modernization, resilience, security, and engineering excellence. The leader will plan and execute end-to-end migration across FICC applications, including real-time engines, batch processes, web platforms, data stores, messaging, reporting, and shared services. They will guide application roadmaps and migration waves, manage dependencies and readiness, coordinate testing and production parallel activities, oversee cutover and stabilization, and retire legacy platforms. Migration decisions must align with enterprise target-state architecture, approved patterns, platform engineering standards, and requirements for performance, resiliency, security, and observability. The role partners with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Operations, and Business leaders. It also oversees budgets, workforce planning, vendors, technology risk, and executive reporting, while developing leadership capability and accountability across global engineering teams. Success includes stable and resilient platforms, reduced technology risk, greater adoption of reusable shared services, improved engineering efficiency and operational readiness, and strong leadership succession plans.

  • Leadership experience with AWS migrations involving Java applications, container platforms, Oracle databases, messaging, APIs, batch processing, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with wave-based migration, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, production parallel, cutover planning, configuration and code-baseline synchronization, and legacy decommissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the FICC cloud migration strategy, integrated roadmap, delivery plan, and measurable outcomes across the application portfolio.
  • Lead end-to-end migration planning and execution across FICC applications, real-time engines, batch processes, web platforms, data stores, messaging, reporting, and shared services.
  • Develop application-level roadmaps and manage migration waves, dependencies, environment readiness, testing, production parallel, cutover, stabilization, and legacy platform retirement.
  • Synchronize with the parallel functional delivery track at strategic milestones to reconcile code, configuration, data, interfaces, and release dependencies before cloud go-live.
  • Ensure migration designs and implementation decisions align with enterprise target-state vision, approved architecture patterns, platform engineering standards, and non-functional requirements.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native and service-based architectures that support scalability, operational readiness, and long-term sustainability.
  • Reduce technology risk through vulnerability remediation, modernization, and retirement of legacy platforms.
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Operations, and Business leaders to deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Drive engineering standards, scalability, performance, resilience, and operational excellence.
