About The Position

State Street Bank and Trust Company in Quincy, MA is seeking a Software Engineer to be responsible for the design and development of internal State Street systems. This role involves application development, integration, and testing to meet business requirements, with a focus on Business Process Management (BPM) integrations. The engineer will analyze user requirements, prototype processes, and design business flows. Responsibilities include developing and directing software system testing, programming, and documentation, using computers for business problem analysis and solution development (e.g., integrated production and inventory control, cost analysis systems). The role also involves expanding or modifying systems for new purposes or improved workflows, modifying existing software for error correction, hardware adaptation, interface upgrades, and performance improvements. Additionally, the engineer will develop and document system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards, follow domain-driven design principles, implement Multifactor Authentication security controls integrated with BPM platforms for Single Sign-On, basic authentication for REST services, SSL, and authorization services. Working within an Agile framework as an individual contributor, the role requires interaction with the Business team for story grooming, reviewing stories/acceptance criteria, and coordinating with the onsite team. Post-production support and maintenance are also key responsibilities, including testing, maintaining, and monitoring computer programs and systems, coordinating installations, and troubleshooting malfunctions. Experience with object-oriented programming languages, client/server applications development processes, and multimedia/Internet technology is essential. Hybrid-remote telecommuting is permitted per company policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5 years of industry experience with Java, PL/SQL development, Messaging
  • Demonstrated solid ability in Java/J2EE
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing application using Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful Web Services
  • Demonstrated experience in an Agile-based environment
  • Demonstrated experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Database, Data Management and Database connectivity
  • Demonstrated solid ability designing and developing scalable, reliable and secure software architectures including Microservices, API’s and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
  • Demonstrated expertise in Public Cloud (Azure and AWS) technologies
  • Proven strong knowledge in modern software development technologies and frameworks
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of the UNIX operating system [file system, storage, process monitoring] and ability to write scripts using UNIX utilities such as AWK, GREP, SED
  • Demonstrated solid communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in application development, integration, and testing efforts to meet business requirements
