About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager - Level 3 to serve as an Engineering Lead and Department Manager for the Central Region Software, Electronics, and Payloads organization within Alabama Engineering. This position will be a dual role with approximately 30% functional and 70% program responsibilities. The successful candidate will: Manage an organization of >100 multidisciplinary employees Serve as primary Engineering liaison to a Program Manager with oversight of team execution, staffing, indirect budgets, and process changes Be responsible for daily communication, performance assessment, development, and recognition of direct reports and subordinate sections Develop high performing teams with strong levels of engagement including mentoring and coaching Assist the AL Engineering Director with technology initiatives, employee engagement, staffing projections, and support of new business acquisitions Responsible for program scope aligning to skills and experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 6 years or PhD with 4 years. Science in Software Engineering, System Engineering, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in any combination of engineering disciplines accompanied by high proficiency in technical problem solving
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Must have minimum of three years proven technical and personnel management experience through program IPT, R&D, or functional environments

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in a STEM discipline
  • Knowledge and experience with Missile Defense Systems
  • Experience managing technical teams with budgetary responsibility
  • Proven performance as an Engineering Leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution. Candidate will require ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers
  • Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines
  • Familiarity with Agile engineering principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team
