About The Position

Crestron Electronics is seeking a motivated student for a Summer-Fall Software Engineering Co-op position to join their Software Engineering Team in Rockleigh, NJ. This role is designated for a 100% onsite work arrangement, and candidates must be commutable to Rockleigh, NJ or Boston, MA. The co-op provides an opportunity to contribute to backend services, APIs, and application logic, gaining hands-on experience with cloud-connected applications and enterprise software development practices. Interns and Co-Ops will be challenged with meaningful projects, assigned a dedicated mentor, and provided with training and networking opportunities to enhance technical and non-technical skill sets and prepare them for professional careers. This role is focused on the Crestron Spaces platform, offering exposure to software development best practices, application architecture, debugging, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States now and in the future.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and object-oriented programming knowledge.
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Coursework or project experience with C# and the .NET platform.
  • Familiarity with version control using Git.
  • Basic understanding of APIs and client-server architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with RESTful API development.
  • Exposure to databases (SQL or NoSQL).
  • Knowledge of asynchronous programming concepts.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Interest in backend systems, cloud applications, or distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to well-defined projects supporting the Crestron Spaces platform.
  • Assist in developing application logic and backend services using C# and .NET.
  • Support integration with REST APIs and external services.
  • Collaborate with engineers to deliver scalable and maintainable software solutions.
  • Participate in software testing, debugging, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in developing and executing unit tests.
  • Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and CI/CD activities.
  • Document technical findings and implementation details.
  • Learn about connected workplace platforms and system integrations.
