Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Strong experience working with PHP-based applications, including maintaining and modernizing legacy codebases.
Strong proficiency in AWS cloud services and cloud-based system architecture.
At least 5+ years proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as Go, Java, or Python).
Experience designing and operating distributed systems with high reliability requirements.
Experience designing and optimizing relational databases and data models.
Experience designing and maintaining APIs and system integrations.
Familiarity with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, or streaming systems.
Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability practices.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues.
Ability to balance short-term migration goals with long-term platform architecture.

Nice To Haves

Experience contributing to large-scale cloud migration initiatives.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design and execution of the migration of an on-premises system to AWS cloud infrastructure.
Modernize and refactor a legacy PHP-based application to support scalable and reliable cloud deployment.
Improve system architecture, modularity, and maintainability while preserving compatibility with existing integrations.
Optimize database design and data access patterns for performance and scalability.
Modernize background processing, scheduled jobs, and batch workloads using cloud-native services.
Ensure system reliability, service continuity, and data integrity throughout the migration process.
Develop comprehensive testing, validation, and rollback strategies for production deployments.
Create operational documentation, migration procedures, and system runbooks.
Design and build scalable services and APIs that extend the platform’s capabilities.
Develop systems that ingest and process operational data and system telemetry.
Implement event-driven workflows and automation that improve operational efficiency.
Improve system observability, monitoring, and operational reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver platform capabilities aligned with long-term architecture goals.
