About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team. This remote position involves designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based enterprise applications, leading or contributing to system architecture, and developing robust APIs within a microservices environment. The role requires ensuring high-quality code through testing, supporting cybersecurity compliance, and troubleshooting complex issues. Additionally, the engineer will participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and produce technical documentation.

Requirements

5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
Cybersecurity workforce certification AIM/IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, CASP+)
Active Public Trust Clearance
Strong experience with Java, object-oriented design, and Spring Boot.
Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and service-oriented architectures.
Hands-on experience with SQL Oracle RBDMS and MongoDB databases
Deep understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, WebSocket, CSS).
Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs.
Comfortable working in Linux environments and using command-line tools.
Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and code reviews.
Proficiency with build tools like Maven.
Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to cloud platforms like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Angular or other front-end frameworks.
Experience with Oracle Cloud, especially in a government environment.
Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals or interest in learning.
Awareness of prompt engineering concepts for LLM applications.
Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications using modern frameworks like Spring Boot.
