About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is hiring a Software Engineer to build Python backend services and secure APIs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for federal clients. The initial assignment will likely involve building the backend for a federal agency’s filer-application processing, moving submissions through document processing, validation, and decisioning. The work includes developing Python and FastAPI (or similar framework) services and REST APIs, implementing cloud workflows on AWS, and supporting PostgreSQL data, identity, and access management in a regulated environment where security and auditability are essential. The hybrid role is based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area; commuting cadence varies by assignment. The initial engagement requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination. The position calls for someone who takes ownership, learns quickly, experiments, and builds production-ready backends and APIs. The engineer is expected to use evolving AI tools to help implement, test, and improve owned components while reviewing their output and remaining accountable for delivered code. The technical assessment is a live Python coding exercise. This is a full-time W-2 position with a salary of $92,000 to $133,000 per year. Peregrine supports employee development through onboarding, sponsored professional certifications and continuing education, and opportunities to rotate across functions and assignments.
