About The Position

As a Software Engineer at Lightcast, you will collaborate with engineers and product managers to design, build, and deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will develop and maintain reliable systems, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and continuously improve the technologies and processes you work with. We welcome candidates with a range of backgrounds, including recent graduates and those with a few years of professional experience. What matters most is a strong foundation in software development, demonstrated technical capability, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education, training, or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated software engineering capability gained through professional experience, internships, coursework, projects, or other hands-on technical work.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and software testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust.
  • Experience with databases, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with web development frameworks and technologies, such as React, Angular, or Node.js, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand requirements and develop effective software solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable software using established coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software to improve reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers, and incorporate feedback into your own work.
  • Document code, features, systems, and processes to support collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Apply software testing principles and methodologies throughout the development process.
  • Work with relevant programming languages and technologies, such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust.
  • Work with databases, including SQL and NoSQL technologies, and cloud infrastructure such as AWS or similar platforms.
  • Use modern development tools and practices, including Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and agentic development tools and workflows.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and apply new learning to improve software, processes, and development practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
