Software Engineer
About The Position
GitKraken is seeking an AI Product Engineer to join their team. The primary focus of this role is to understand how developers utilize AI and to develop features that address their real-world problems, rather than solely focusing on building advanced technology. This is a 0-to-1 environment where the engineer will rapidly adopt new AI tools, such as LLMs and frameworks, to transform ambiguous ideas into dependable and intelligent product features. The goal is to enhance the GitKraken platform by integrating AI to act as an ultra-smart coding partner, automating tedious tasks through agentic workflows. Engineers will use the tools they build daily, providing immediate feedback for problem-solving.
Requirements
- Strong skills in TypeScript and React.
- Proficiency in Prompt Engineering.
- Experience building/refining multi-step agentic workflows.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs.
- Deep understanding of AI-assisted dev tools, including their strengths, weaknesses, and real-world failure modes.
- Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
- Collaborative mindset to ensure AI solutions meet user needs and product goals.
- Commitment to staying updated with the latest generative AI technologies.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with building desktop apps (cross-platform).
- Prior work on developer tools, IDE extensions, or other productivity apps.
- Open-source contributions or a strong personal project portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship frontend features that integrate large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and agentic frameworks, ensuring complex AI interactions feel simple and trustworthy.
- Translate vague product needs into clear, actionable technical plans by asking the right questions early.
- Write clean, high-performance TypeScript and React code, prioritizing readability and maintainability in a large codebase.
- Collaborate with backend teams to define and design necessary APIs for smart, agentic workflows.
- Participate in technical design, code reviews, and manual testing to ensure high-quality, bug-free product releases.
