About The Position

Base is hiring a full-stack engineer for its Core Experience team to build the platform and member-facing product that supports the company’s distributed battery network. The team owns the member journey from the first website visit through the app experience, including the operational processes involved in installing and activating batteries. The role will help make expansion into new markets primarily configuration-based while delivering a consistently strong member experience. The position works across database, API, and user interface development and involves close collaboration with design, Growth, deployments, and member support. Base is a startup where priorities and responsibilities may shift as business needs evolve. The company works in person and describes its working style as intense, urgent, and all-in.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience building production software in product or full-stack engineering roles.
  • Strong experience designing system architecture for complex web applications.
  • Track record of owning products or platforms from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Strong product judgment and a track record of turning ambiguous ideas into useful shipped products.
  • Ability to work across the stack and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work with intensity and urgency and maintain a high bar for personal output.

Responsibilities

  • Own the member journey from the first website visit through the member’s use of the app during an outage.
  • Build discovery and checkout experiences with accurate plans and pricing for each address, product, and market.
  • Build activation experiences, including photo submission, a live status tracker, and internal tools that coordinate members, operators, utilities, and installation crews.
  • Turn live battery telemetry into clear in-app experiences, including real-time outage status, explanatory bills, and battery performance information.
  • Ship across the full stack, including database, API, and user interface development, and define metrics to assess results.
  • Partner with design, Growth, deployments, and member support; use support data to build self-service into the product.
