About The Position

You will be part of a dynamic and growing team responsible for securing Cisco's global software supply chain. Our diverse software engineering team creates Cisco’s Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) in response to the U.S. Executive Order on Cybersecurity and provides vulnerability management services to engineering teams. We develop internal solutions using Ruby on Rails, Python, and other modern programming languages to ensure highly accurate and traceable SBOMs across Cisco’s entire software product portfolio. As a DevOps Engineer, you will independently execute coding and infrastructure-related tasks. You will support and maintain current cloud deployments while contributing to new strategic initiatives as they move into the design phase. You will take ownership of development and deployment tasks, proactively solving technical challenges and helping improve the reliability, scalability, and security of Cisco’s software supply chain systems.

Requirements

  • MS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience integrating LLM APIs or AWS AI services, such as Amazon Bedrock or SageMaker, into cloud-native backend services.
  • 2+ years of experience with prompt engineering, structured output extraction, and agentic/tool-use patterns, such as MCP or function calling.
  • 5+ years of experience planning, designing, maintaining, operating, and migrating cloud architectures, solutions, and configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation, and service-side programming languages such as Python or Node.js.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating GitHub Actions and workflows.
  • Experience with front-end technologies.
  • Understanding of package managers including, but not limited to, pip, Maven, dpkg, and Docker.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of development and deployment tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and operate cloud-based deployments and infrastructure.
  • Design and implement cloud-native backend services using AWS services.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled solutions by integrating LLM APIs or AWS AI services such as Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
  • Build and enhance automation, deployment workflows, and backend services using Python, Node.js, or similar technologies.
