About The Position
Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting mission and business objectives. The role involves designing, building, and integrating software solutions in data-intensive applications, real-time systems, and large-scale data platforms. The engineer will analyze requirements, develop capabilities, troubleshoot issues, and help ensure high-quality software delivery, working independently or with a team. The position also contributes to system design, evaluates trade-offs, and recommends improvements to development processes and technologies. Desired technical experience includes modern front-end frameworks such as Angular and RxJS, and familiarity with Spring Boot-based back-end development environments. The position requires U.S. citizenship, an active security clearance with appropriate polygraph, and a DOD 8570 certification. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a security background investigation and polygraph. Requirements
- 12 or more years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs of similar scope and complexity.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or four additional years of relevant experience in place of the degree.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex software systems, analyzing requirements and implementing software solutions, debugging, testing, and maintaining codebases, and working within structured software development methodologies.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Active security clearance with appropriate polygraph.
- DOD 8570 certification.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Angular and RxJS for front-end development.
- Familiarity with the Spring Boot framework.
- Experience with some of the following technologies: Java; Spring (MVC, Data, Security); Kafka; JMS; Oracle; Elasticsearch; Docker; Kubernetes (K8s); Maven; Gradle; GitLab; and CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and performance specifications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions.
- Debug and resolve software defects and performance issues.
- Modify and enhance existing software to add features or improve functionality.
- Integrate software into new or existing systems and environments.
- Develop algorithms and data-processing solutions to meet system requirements.
- Design and implement database queries and interfaces.
- Write, review, and maintain technical documentation.
- Contribute to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs and reuse of existing components.
- Support testing activities and validate software performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
- Recommend improvements to development processes, tools, and technologies.
- Provide technical leadership as needed based on project scope.
