About The Position

Join Nationwide as a Software Engineer and help shape the technology future of servicing at Nationwide Financial. The ideal candidate will have experience with Java, Angular and AWS. This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Mondays & Tuesdays. This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high-quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll code, configure, test, debug, document, and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or other related degrees are preferred. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Early career opportunity with one or more years of technology experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Use DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and learning.
  • Review and process project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.
