About The Position

The Software Engineer maintains, builds, and manages new and existing software applications and systems through the entire development lifecycle to support all trading execution and related processes. This person contributes throughout the full lifecycle from requirements through production support while continuously improving system quality and scalability. Success in this role requires someone who is a skilled software developer, able to learn new skills and technologies as needed, and who is well-organized and focused on continual personal, system, and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field— or equivalent professional experience and training.
  • 3+ years of professional experience developing in C#/.NET (or a comparable object‑oriented language).
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or another relational database platform.
  • Proven ability to apply sound software‑design and system‑architecture principles.
  • Working knowledge of Python.
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines, source‑control systems, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication—capable of translating complex technical ideas to non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and equally comfortable working independently or within cross‑functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow and authoring directed acyclic graph (DAG) code
  • Knowledge of financial instruments (futures, forwards, equities, fixed‑income, options) and trading‑execution workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience with software testing—unit, integration, or end‑to‑end.
  • Prior experience managing projects.
  • Understanding of financial technologies (FIX, Bloomberg API, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft middleware and security technologies—WCF, MSMQ/Service Bus, Windows Services, AD, and related security patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Implement software using a variety of technologies, languages, and tools (.NET, C#, Python, ASP.NET, SQL/SQL Server/Oracle, etc.) with a focus on software quality
  • Design, implement, and perform unit, functional, integration, and system testing. Partner with end users by developing test plans and test cases and supporting user testing
  • Participate in deployments of changes to test and production environments
  • Work with external vendors and other counterparties to design, develop, integrate, and test systems
  • Work with internal stakeholders to build and document requirements and develop full system designs
  • Assist with maintaining the product backlog to prioritize work within the team and with internal stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Produce and keep up-to-date system and process documentation for developers and stakeholders.
  • Mentor peers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Take ownership of and act as subject matter expert on the trading execution and related systems to recommend and implement good design principles.
  • Provide as-needed support for trading technologies during normal business hours as well as occasional off-hours.
  • Own ticket triage, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem documentation.
  • Prioritize work and feature deliveries to meet deadlines.
  • Determine component architecture and database designs
  • Guides management to determine future direction of overall system architectures
