Software Engineer
About The Position
PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer in Austin, TX. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying multiple applications, providing necessary support and maintenance. Building and implementing micro-services with high concurrency service design and optimization is key. Ensuring code is well-commented, maintainable, and reusable is expected. Thorough testing and running unit tests to eliminate bugs are part of the process. Troubleshooting and solving technical challenges including high scalability, low latency, and high availability using cutting-edge micro-service and big data technology is required. Leading feature or sub-system design reviews and code reviews, and working with business partners to enable the world-class compliance platform in PayPal are also responsibilities. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and at least one language such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python (1 year)
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs for reliable communication between distributed systems (1 year)
- Building and deploying backend applications and services using Spring Boot framework (1 year)
- Experience with relational databases, data modeling, and query development. (1 year)
- Experience writing efficient SQL queries and improving database performance. (1 year)
- Experience with message-driven systems and asynchronous communication using standard tools and frameworks. (1 year)
- Experience designing scalable, distributed applications and service-based architectures on cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS. (1 year)
