Software Engineer - Small Business Technologies
About The Position
We’re growing our technology team and are searching for a Software Engineer to help us modernize our software architecture. When you join us, you’ll use your technical expertise to design, develop, and maintain software components and products that support H&R Block business applications and transform our technology. Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve productivity, quality, testing, and documentation. Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of production issues while contributing to long-term reliability improvements. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve engineering workflows. Take ownership of assigned features from design through deployment, monitoring, and support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
- 3 years minimum related work experience with React / TypeScript
- 3 years minimum related work experience with Node.js
- 3 years minimum related work experience with Python
Nice To Haves
- AWS or Azure (Cloud Exposure)
- Exposure to REST APIs and event-driven architectures
- GitHub Actions and CI/CD tooling
- Infrastructure as Code
- Observability and Monitoring Platforms (Datadog preferred)
- AI-assisted software development tools and engineering automation platforms
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and drive outcomes in ambiguous environments
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tools and agentic engineering workflows to improve productivity, testing, code quality, and documentation
