Cat Digital is the digital and technology focused organization within Caterpillar, Inc. Our global team is responsible for bringing digital capabilities to Caterpillar’s world-famous yellow iron. Working with your yellow partners and Cat Dealers, we execute key components of digital and marketing portfolios, including global marketing & brand, connectivity, enterprise data, analytics and AI, equipment management, eCommerce, digital marketing, rental & used digital solutions, and aftermarket leads & insights. About the Role As a Software Engineering Professional, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying Caterpillar’s cutting-edge digital platform. You will contribute to building a world-class platform that supports a diverse range of digital applications. Your responsibilities will span across various functional areas, including new program development and the maintenance of existing mobile, web, and cloud systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace
  • Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages
  • Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into software product design
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of a software product; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products
  • Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree (selected candidates must complete their degree by their start date)
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience related to this field (internships or academic projects are a plus)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 3.0/ 4.0 (no rounding)
  • Experience through internships, personal projects, research, hackathons, student organizations, or coursework is highly valued
