About The Position

SMX is looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer to support our government client in Huntsville, AL. This role involves working closely with team members and customers to build and modify software, develop code, test, debug, fix issues, and improve software performance. The engineer will connect data from differing sources such as SQL or Dataverse, set up and manage GitLab pipelines for automation, and work with UI/UX designers to create user-friendly interfaces. Responsibilities also include integrating APIs and web services, ensuring compliance with MDA Software Assurance policies and agile methodologies, modernizing legacy applications, and migrating them to a hybrid cloud environment. The role requires participation in sprint reviews, system demos, maintaining technical documentation, and providing recommendations for application enhancements.

Requirements

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • 4 additional years of related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • 1+ years of relevant software experience
  • Knowledge of, and experience employing, the software development life cycle
  • Software engineering experience encompassing: software requirements analysis, software design, software coding, software integration and testing
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, and Gitlab pipelines
  • Ability to multi-task and work across a variety of software development projects
  • Experience using JavaScript, jQuery, Web Services, APIs, HTML and CSS
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must reside within a 70-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with team members and customers to build and modify software

  • Set up, configure, and manage GitLab pipelines to automate build, deployment, and continuous integration processes
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers to create user-friendly interfaces
  • Integrate APIs and web services into applications as needed
  • Ensure compliance with MDA Software Assurance policies and agile methodologies
  • Modernize current legacy applications and migrate them to the hybrid cloud service provider environment
  • Participate in sprint reviews and system demos as required
  • Maintain technical documentation to include release notes for new software versions and training materials
  • Provide the customer with recommendations for application enhancements, to include new capabilities and performance
