About The Position

The Software Engineer will work together with the Software Team Lead to coordinate and oversee the design and development of future engineered products. This includes new versions of Exacta, various automation and device integrations with Exacta, Dynamics AX and other ERP system integrations into Exacta, and new functionality within Exacta such as vision systems, voice-controlled Exacta, and embedded software. The role involves ensuring the best architecture is implemented for the Exacta product, engaging with and solving critical issues and tasks faced by the software development group. The engineer will be expected to be vocal and influential regarding the direction of the software suite's future and to mentor new developers, fostering an atmosphere of growth and respect.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science; Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science (CECS) is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience working in a professional setting as a Developer (C# preferred).
  • 6+ years of work experience with C#, .NET framework.
  • Ability to support or rewrite legacy Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET, REST, and MVC v1 thru 4.
  • Experience in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, JSON, XML, XHTML, security & performance issues with browsers.
  • Proficiency with C++, COM, Mocking Frameworks and Debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of source control with TFS/Git including setting up solutions, publishing, CI, branching/merging.
  • Experience with database development including relational database design and ORM technologies.
  • Knowledge and application of object-oriented design principles.
  • A deep understanding of development patterns and prior experience with implementation.
  • Deep understanding of coding techniques which contribute to the reliability, maintainability, readability, simplicity, performance, and testability of software.
  • A good understanding of IT environments including networking, server technologies, databases, security and performance.
  • Experience and proficiency in the day-to-day practicalities of Software Development methodologies such as Scrum, Waterfall and Kanban.
  • Software development qualifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional Developer.
  • Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science (CECS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Software Team Lead to ensure all developers in the Programming Department are successful and can produce fast, error-free code.
  • Receive detailed functional specifications, software design documents, and flow diagrams to illustrate program sequences, and describe input, output, and logical operations.
  • Analyze workflow logic of design documents and resolve problems using theoretical and practical approaches to project design.
  • Assist Software Architects with documentation for new Exacta modules.
  • Communicate closely with other project team members or the end user to resolve questions regarding system functionality, data input, output requirements, and various internal checks and controls.
  • Develop, debug, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
  • Package and support deployment of releases.
  • Maintain MS Certification as a Professional Developer and encourage developers to become MCTS and MCSDs.
  • Maintain Bastian Software Coding Standards Document.
  • Initiate and lead code review meetings strictly adhering to Bastian Software coding standards.
  • Encourage and facilitate the use of unit testing algorithms and standards.
  • Complete unit-level testing successfully prior to passing programs to QA.
  • Actively participate in all PDSC meetings and activities.
  • Execute R&D Projects.
  • Assist Team Lead in providing estimates to the sales department.
  • Actively participate, including presentations, in monthly developer meetings.
  • Engage in continuing education, including but not limited to security training.
  • Design and develop larger or lesser defined projects from start to finish.
  • Perform all essential functions with minimal supervision and less rework.
