About The Position

The Software and Ground Solutions group at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineer focused on delivering high-quality, embedded satellite software and associated test infrastructure. This position supports a portfolio of software programs. Technology areas include software development, CI/CD, Containerization, C/C++, Rust, Python, and Ruby. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience with a cloud deployment in AWS.
  • Good Linux/Bash skills.
  • CI/CD pipeline development with GitLab or similar.
  • Experience with object-oriented design.
  • Experience with formal software development practices including the use of software configuration management, coding standards, and style guides.
  • Docker image creation and usage
  • In-depth development in one or more languages such as C++, Rust, Java, Python, Javascript, Go, Rub
  • Ability to learn development tools and ecosystems for popular languages Including dependency management, unit-testing, package management, deployment
  • Experience with IaC, preferably terraform
  • Experience with binary repositories (such as Nexus or Artifactory)
  • Experience developing against Software Security best practices
  • Experience with security scanning, digital signing, and sbom creation

Responsibilities

  • Develop satellite command and control, mission planning, and data analysis software systems
  • Perform full software life cycle functions including requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration, documentation, and support
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with both internal and external customers to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company
  • Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Perform other duties as necessary
