Leidos’ Defense Systems, Weapons Sensors, Advanced Sensors and Protective Technologies Portfolio is seeking a talented Software Engineer to function full-time within the Advanced Sensors and Protective Technologies Portfolio. You will join a diverse team of software developers, engineers, and scientists to help create unique solutions for complex problems. Our team solves important problems that make a difference and support our customers in the current and future defense of our nation; primarily in the areas of modeling & simulation, sensor integration, testing, characterization, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm development for electro-optical infrared (EO/IR) systems. Candidate will be expected to execute within the Agile/Scrum framework, productively contribute to a team environment, and communicate effectively with management, coworkers, and customers. Leidos Defense Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Solutions for Defense include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant software-related experience plus 4-8 years of experience in a related field OR Master’s degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant software-related experience plus 2-6 years of experience in a related field.
  • Intermediate ability in C++ and Python.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active SECRET clearance or above
  • Experience with camera interfaces such as Camera Link, CoaXPress, GigE Vision, etc.
  • Familiarity or interest in EO/IR phenomenology and experience with image processing.
  • Experience with GPU programming and/or CUDA programming.
  • Experience with developing AI/ML solutions.
  • Experience with building systems such as CMake.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to write software (using primarily C++ and Python) to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to include EO/IR sensor systems.
  • Interface and troubleshoot with hardware via Ethernet, USB, RS-232, high speed I/O, etc.
  • Work and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop software for both Windows and Linux OS.
