This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners.
HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to support designing, developing, and maintaining modern software applications that power national broadband initiatives, data analytics platforms, and critical telecommunications systems. This role will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that help improve digital equity and communications infrastructure across the United States.

Requirements

• Proficiency in modern programming languages (such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Understanding of API development, RESTful services, and microservice architecture.
• An active SECRET level security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with federal agencies or in government-related programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions that support national telecommunication mission objectives.
• Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, and policy teams to translate requirements into technical deliverables.
• Implement secure coding practices and ensure alignment with federal cybersecurity standards.
• Support ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and performance optimization of existing applications.
• Contribute to documentation, technical architecture discussions, and team knowledge sharing.
