Entry Level Software Engineer

We are seeking an Entry-Level Software Engineer (0-3 years of experience) to join our Compass engineering team. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who is eager to learn, adaptable in day-to-day work, and excited to contribute to real-world systems used globally. You will work closely with experienced engineers and receive peer mentorship, hands-on guidance, and exposure to embedded systems, application software, automated testing, and modern development practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience, or a strong eagerness to learn about: Linux environments (Ubuntu, Yocto), Scripting (bash, etc.), Python, C / C++, Qt Framework, Java, Go, Git
- Automated testing and various testing frameworks
- Networking fundamentals (IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, messaging, protocols)
- Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, etc.)
- Eager to learn new skills and technologies.
- Adaptable and flexible with day-to-day priorities.
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
- Comfortable taking initiative and engaging in hands-on work.
- Possesses an innovator's mindset, always looking for ways to enhance user experience.
- Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for the Compass product line
- Work on Linux-based systems and embedded platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA and field support
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and agile development activities
- Learn new technologies and tools as part of your regular workflow
- Roll up your sleeves to troubleshoot issues, improve existing systems, and support product enhancements
