About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and software components through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality, scalable software solutions while integrating AI/ML capabilities. The position requires strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and effective communication with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable solutions. The engineer will also support DevOps practices, mentor peers, and contribute to innovation initiatives, driving excellence in software development and operational performance within a dynamic environment. Our team collaborates closely with Walmart U.S. stores and eCommerce to enhance customer experiences by delivering innovative technological solutions. We support a broad product range, from groceries to sporting goods, across online and in-store platforms. Additionally, we partner with Walmart Business to empower business customers through advanced digital tools and AI-driven features. Focus areas include merchant tools, data science, search, personalization, and AI integration. Requirements

  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as Java, TypeScript, Python, Rust, and GraphQL.
  • Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, code review, debugging, and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through collaborative, iterative development and continuous integration.
  • Demonstrated skills in AI/ML integration and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of platform design, product strategy, and technical leadership in scalable, maintainable software solutions.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within cross-functional teams.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system objectives.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
  • Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply best practices for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor application performance, support defect resolution, and ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Mentor peers, promote continuous improvement, and contribute to innovation within engineering teams.
