We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team and help shape our NF Pet Flagship AI initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact effort focused on applying AI as a core part of the solution, not as an add-on. The engineer in this role will contribute to building modern, scalable capabilities that use AI to solve real business problems and improve outcomes. Our team works within a product operating model, with strong partnership across engineering, product, and business stakeholders. We also use a spec-driven framework to guide delivery, creating clarity in requirements, improving alignment, and enabling teams to move with greater speed and confidence. This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis. The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location(s): Scottsdale: 18700 Hayden Road Scottsdale AZ, 85255 Columbus: One Nationwide Plaza, Columbus OH, 43215 Des Moines: 1100 Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309 Work schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days remote. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.
Requirements
- Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
- Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
- Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
- Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.

- Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
- Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
- Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
- Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
