About The Position

Erias Ventures is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. This role involves working closely with other engineers to create software solutions that meet client needs, utilizing modern tools and technologies. The engineer will be encouraged to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team committed to delivering high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about developing innovative software solutions. The position is in a fast-paced, small business environment with opportunities for partial telework. U.S. citizenship is required, and a U.S. Government Security clearance will be processed for the selected candidate. Candidates with current Secret or TS level clearance may also be considered.

Requirements

Strong working knowledge and experience developing Java based software capabilities.
Inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing skills.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Experience in designing enterprise APIs.
Experience in RESTful web services.
Experience in Microservices architecture.
Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms.
Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
Proven ability to learn quickly and work well both independently and in a team setting.
Experience with the Linux operating system.
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2-3 days (full time/8hrs day), per week at our Columbia, MD office or Ft. Meade onsite; flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.
U.S. citizenship required.
Nine plus (9+) years experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in related field; OR seven (7) years relevant experience with Masters in related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent and thirteen (13) years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

Current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required on day 1, but will be processed for one.
Current Secret or TS level clearance.
Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure).
Proven use of AI tools (Claude Code, Gemini) in daily engineering workflows.
Using autonomous agents for multi-file implementation, refactoring, and automated testing.
Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
Scripting experience is a huge plus.
Prior experience or familiarity with Big Data Platform (BDP)/JCRS-D, Data Lake/Warehouse is a plus.
Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).
DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required in this position as directed by the customer.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems.

Integrating advanced AI agents, specifically Claude Code or Google's Antigravity / Gemini agentic workflows, into daily software engineering routines.
Using autonomous agents to handle multi-file feature implementations, complex codebase refactoring, and automated generation of unit/integration tests.
Guiding AI agents through complex, multi-repository application architectures, managing context efficiently and critically auditing agent-generated code for security, performance, and architectural alignment.
Working in a fast-paced, small business environment.
Performing additional duties as assigned.
