About The Position

Support the development and implementation of the Company's initiatives with respect to innovation and implementation of grid modernization technologies and development of software tools that enhance electric distribution system planning across the AVANGRID Networks service territory. Develop understanding and application of Distribution Planning tools used in day-to-day basis such as GIS, SAP, Load Data systems, etc. Support the team to aid in the advancement of business needs. Collaborate and interact with internal teams and industry peers on regional and divisional activities. Assist during storm restoration efforts.

Requirements

  • Analysis and design of object-oriented solutions.
  • Server-side: Proficiency with C#, .NET Core.
  • Client-side: Proficiency with React, REST API, JSX, JSON, Typescript, Javascript and CSS.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server (including spatial data): Complex queries, data modeling, data management, data manipulation and performance tuning.
  • Entity Framework Core (LINQ).
  • Windows web server management, IIS.
  • LDAP.
  • Graph theory knowledge.
  • MS SQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Version control using GitHub.
  • JIRA project management.
  • SharePoint management.
  • BS required in Electrical, Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience (Industry Related).

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates from other engineering disciplines may be considered depending on relevant work experience.
  • General knowledge of power systems and the distribution system.
  • Experience in distribution analyses and tools is preferred.
  • Distribution Planning analyses and tools include power flow, voltage regulation, power factor, capacity planning during normal and contingency system configurations, DER distribution system interconnections, reliability and resiliency concepts.
