About The Position

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Software Engineer I, specializing in Agentic AI Automation, to join their IT team. This role involves partnering with business-aligned teams, Product Owners, Architects, and senior Engineers to build and support AI agents and automations across multiple technology stacks. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in software development, automation, agentic development or an IT-related position; internships, co-ops, and substantial academic or personal projects count.
  • Working knowledge of the Oracle technology stack, gained through work, internships, coursework, or certifications, such as Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle Integration Cloud, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Foundational understanding of generative AI and agentic concepts, including large language models, prompt design, retrieval and grounding, and tool or function calling.
  • Programming or scripting experience in at least one language, such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and common authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the curiosity to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Familiarity with agent interoperability standards, such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A).
  • Strong professional, written, and verbal communication skills, and comfort working directly with business partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft or other AI platforms.
  • Oracle or Microsoft AI certifications, for example Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications Foundations Associate.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy AI agents and automations, starting with Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications and expanding to Microsoft and other AI platforms.
  • Partner with business-aligned delivery teams to understand their software development processes, identify tasks for agentic automation, and translate requirements into working solutions.
  • Connect agents to enterprise systems and data using REST APIs, Oracle Integration Cloud, and platform connectors, adhering to secure authentication and access practices.
  • Serve as a support escalation point for AI agents and automations in production, troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and implementing fixes with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Write and refine prompts, agent instructions, and tool definitions, using testing and evaluations to enhance agent response accuracy and reliability.
  • Monitor agent performance, usage, and delivered value, recommending improvements based on findings.
  • Adhere to responsible AI, security, and governance standards, including human approval steps, auditability, and data protection.
  • Document solutions, support procedures, and reusable patterns for adoption by other teams.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions, staying current on emerging agentic AI capabilities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
