About The Position

Onto Innovation is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our team in Wilmington, Massachusetts. This role is part of a team developing our next-generation proprietary semiconductor capital equipment used in inspection and metrology for advanced packaging applications, including AI and other emerging technologies. This position requires deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in motion control systems for precision equipment and vision and image processing for sub-micron defect detection.

Requirements

• 5 years of C++/C# software development experience
• Experience in optical systems, image acquisition, processing
• Experience in controlling mechanical and electrical systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment development desired

Responsibilities

• Translate customer and product requirements into functional specifications
• Design and implement algorithms for defect detection and metrology
• Integrate 2D and 3D sensors into inspection systems
• Optimize image acquisition and processing performance
• Conduct design verification and system-level integration testing
• Present technical solutions to application and product management teams
• Support beta installations and evaluations at customer sites
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Firefly G3/G5 systems
