Software Engineer (Remote - US)

TixTrack•New York, NY
•$75,000 - $115,000•Remote

About The Position

At TixTrack, we support our clients by creating superior ticketing solutions for performing arts and cultural institutions through a combination of modern technology, beautifully simple design, and the art of listening. Headquartered in the heart of the Broadway Theatre District, NYC, we are a small, but growing team of hardworking, highly motivated individuals. With a presence across both the US and UK, and trusted by key players on Broadway and the West End, we are passionate about our work and driven to innovate with our customers to solve current and future challenges with new solutions. Our core product, Nliven, is a real-time platform that helps venues manage ticket sales efficiently while creating a more engaging buying experience for customers. We are transforming our engineering culture to align with an Empowered Teams model, embracing Continuous Delivery and focusing on building capabilities to drive higher quality, reliability, and speed. Even with a highly dispersed, largely remote workforce, we stay connected through our Slack channels, virtual events and regional meetups. Come see how we “role”. We're looking for a full stack Software Engineer to help build and improve the nLiven platform, working in both the frontend and backend. You'll write code across .NET Core and modern JavaScript frameworks like React and Vue, extending and improving our existing systems with tests as part of every change. We're hiring at two levels, and the scope of the role grows with your experience. Early-career engineers will start with well-defined tasks and bug fixes, learning our codebase and practices while senior engineers pair with them, review their code, and help them grow. Engineers with solid full stack experience will own well-scoped features from start to finish, with guidance from senior engineers when the path isn't clear. You'll report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with a team that invests in its engineers. We'll determine the right level based on your experience and the interview process, so if you're not sure where you land, apply anyway. This position is full-time and fully remote. Candidates must be located in California, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Louisiana, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut. Candidates may be required to travel and/or meet up in-person from time to time. There may also be an expectation in the future for hybrid work in a local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional software development experience:
  • Level 1: Up to two years. Internships, co-ops, and substantial personal or open source projects count.
  • Level 2: Two or more years of full stack development in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
  • Experience building with a modern frontend framework (Angular, React, or Vue).
  • Back-end or API development experience. .NET Core is ideal, but a similar stack plus a willingness to learn .NET works too.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with data modeling experience for Level 2.
  • Experience with automated testing. Level 2 candidates should be writing unit and integration tests as part of everyday development.
  • Comfort using Git for version control.
  • A solid grasp of computer science fundamentals.
  • Curiosity and a strong desire to learn, including picking up new languages, tools, and parts of the codebase.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a methodical approach to debugging.
  • Clear communication: you ask questions early, flag blockers, and can explain what you've tried and why.
  • Openness to feedback, and a habit of learning from code reviews, pairing, and mistakes.
  • Ability to work independently on your own tasks, with good judgment about when to ask for help.
  • Solid time management, keeping your work moving and teammates updated while balancing multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C# or .NET Core
  • Unit testing JavaScript or Vue components
  • Azure, GitHub Actions, or Terraform
  • Observability tools such as Datadog
  • Payments integrations such as Stripe
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working

Responsibilities

  • Build features and fix bugs across the stack, from well-defined tasks to features you own from design through production, working closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other engineers.
  • Write clean, readable, maintainable code, with automated tests as part of every change.
  • Work confidently in existing codebases: read before you change, follow established patterns, and make small, safe changes that get reviewed early.
  • Understand the customer problem behind your work by partnering with Product and Design.
  • Participate in code reviews by acting on feedback, asking questions to learn, and giving clear, constructive feedback to others.
  • Follow the team's coding standards and best practices, and suggest improvements where you see them.
  • Investigate and fix bugs and performance issues, pulling in senior engineers when a problem needs a wider view.
  • Build with security in mind, including input validation, authorization checks, and error handling.
  • Add logging, monitoring, and tests to the features you build, and use what they show to improve them.
  • Pair and mob regularly with teammates to build skills, share context, and help newer engineers get up to speed.
  • Update technical documentation, such as API contracts and design notes, when your work changes how something behaves.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions, bringing perspective from the code you work in day to day.
  • Point out friction in tooling, docs, CI/CD workflows, or team processes, and help fix it.
  • Take part in production support and incident reviews alongside experienced teammates.
