About The Position

Robinhood is building an elite team to apply frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. The Brokerage Engineering team builds and operates the systems that power Robinhood’s core brokerage platform, enabling reliable order execution, account management, and regulatory compliance. The team focuses on system reliability, scalability, and accuracy while partnering closely with product and infrastructure teams to support critical financial workflows. As a Backend Engineer (IC3), you will design, build, and maintain backend services that support brokerage operations. You’ll work on improving system performance, ensuring data accuracy, and developing APIs that power customer-facing and internal tools. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to systems that directly impact millions of customers while growing your technical expertise alongside experienced engineers! This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Requirements

Experience building backend systems using languages such as Python, Java, or Go
Understanding of database systems and ability to design schemas that support reliable data storage and retrieval
Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code and value code quality
Comfortable debugging production issues and improving system performance
Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers and partners to deliver solutions

Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend services and APIs that support brokerage products and operations
Write clean, well-tested code to ensure system reliability and accuracy in financial transactions
Improve system performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing scalable solutions
Collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver features that meet customer and regulatory needs
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards and practices
