About The Position

PeopleTec is seeking a Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL, to build the software services and instructor interfaces that connect AI capabilities to the H-1 flight simulator. You will develop real-time services that process voice requests, route them to the appropriate AI capability, communicate with the simulator, and provide tools for instructors to review and evaluate system performance.

Requirements

  • Preferred experience range: 5–8 years of software engineering experience using Python and at least one additional language such as C++, Java, or TypeScript.
  • Demonstrated technical ability will be considered regardless of total years of experience.
  • Experience building real-time or streaming software services and integrating multiple software components into a working system.
  • Experience developing browser-based user interfaces and backend services.
  • Experience using containers and continuous integration in a Government or other regulated environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating flight simulators or training devices, including instructor operator station workflows.
  • Audio pipeline experience, including capture, voice activity detection, and text-to-speech playback, along with low-latency service tuning.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Helm, GitLab CI, software bill of materials (SBOM) tooling, and development in STIG-hardened environments.
  • Familiarity with experiment tracking, model registries, and dataset versioning tools.
  • Familiarity with language-model applications and guardrails that control how model outputs are acted on.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software services that connect voice input, transcription, AI agents, and spoken responses in a real-time application.
  • Build the interfaces between AI services and the flight simulator, including support for simulator commands and scenario activity.
  • Develop browser-based tools that allow instructors to review system behavior, provide feedback, and support training and debrief activities.
  • Implement traceability, logging, and other controls needed to understand system behavior and connect results to the models and software versions used.
  • Develop automated tests, troubleshoot problems, and deliver software fixes and improvements.
