About The Position

Join a team that builds and supports critical insurance technology solutions that power policy processing, agency and producer operations, and third-party vendor integrations. As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and enhance scalable applications, APIs, and integrations while collaborating with business and technical teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. You'll leverage modern technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP APIs, DB2, JavaScript, React, and Kubernetes to solve complex business challenges, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the insurance platform ecosystem. Strong problem-solving skills, a passion for continuous learning, and experience with Agile development practices are key to success in this role.

Requirements

  • 5+ yrs. - reasonable single system / single technology knowledge.
  • 5+ years of professional development experience
  • Strong working experience developing web applications in Java (preferably versions 11+)
  • Strong working experience with DB2 or SQL Server databases
  • Software Development Life Cycle experience.
  • Ability to thrive and produce results with little or no supervision in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact seamlessly at all levels with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and systems.
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in related field or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Atlassian suite experience is a plus (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence)
  • Git Hub Enterprise experience is a plus (As code repository as well as managing build and deployment)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, maintain, and support application features and enhancements using Java, REST/SOAP APIs and DB2 technologies.
  • Gain a robust understanding of all functional and technical aspects of a system policy system and it’s integrations.
  • Produce significant new system functionality or defect resolution with minimal direction.
  • Create design specifications that demonstrate an understanding of most interfacing systems and supported business processes.
  • Routinely proposes improvements to supported systems to improve supportability or usability.
  • Perform adequate peer review on any changes in supported systems.
  • Can be consulted to provide recommendations to solve business issues based on experience and knowledge of current technology.
  • Demonstrate solid development processes including code review, documentation, and unit testing.
  • Provide rotating on-call support of production systems.
  • Ensure high-performing and scalable solutions by proactively monitoring and assessing various performance metrics both pre and post-implementation.
  • Provide end user mentoring and training in 1-1 and small group settings.
  • Work as a collaborative member of an Agile development team, interacting with business analysts, QA resources, and end users.
  • Partner with the various subsidiaries to create a vision for future advancement of our applications.
