About The Position

Blackhawk Network (BHN) is seeking a Software Engineer to develop software products that are performant, scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant with automated failover capabilities. The role involves creating systems that are easily triaged for performance bottlenecks and root cause analysis of failure scenarios. The engineer will utilize service-oriented architecture and REST service knowledge to create understandable and automated product deployment mechanisms for development, quality analytics, and production environments. This position requires participation in the standard scrum process, including daily stand-up meetings, iteration planning, and story grooming, as well as demonstrating solution design for performance and scalability. The role also entails software engineering life-cycle ownership of Blackhawk products and technologies, interfacing with and influencing product architects, product owners, and other stakeholders to create technical requirements and evaluate solutions. The engineer will contribute novel ideas and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver and improve Blackhawk software systems. The position involves developing Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud-based transaction-processing solutions using traditional and emerging technologies, and utilizing relevant technologies such as Bash, SQL, and Groovy to design and implement highly secure and robust platforms.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience as Software Engineer, Programmer Analyst, Technical Lead or related occupation.
• Object-oriented programming using Java, Spring, and MongoDB (at least 2 years).
• Working in at least two of the following AWS environments: AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS RDS, and/or AWS Gateway (at least 2 years).
• Building and deploying apps using the following tools: Jenkins, Git, and AWS (at least 2 years).
• Designing and developing REST services with AWS adopting microservices architecture (at least 2 years).
• Designing performance tests, tools, and tuning applications for scalability and performance (at least 2 years).
• Relational database design and SQL development using MySQL (at least 2 years).
• Developing products in an agile environment using Scrum or Kanban methods (at least 2 years).
