About The Position

Teradyne is looking for a Software Engineer II to work at its Agoura Hills, California facility. The target system for this software is state-of-the-art automated test equipment used by semiconductor design and manufacturing companies worldwide. Programming will be primarily in C#, with some C++, across Windows and embedded Linux environments. This role develops and maintains a broad range of software components, which may include low-level device drivers, higher-level user interface APIs, language compilers, and graphical user interfaces. The engineer works with increasing independence, owns moderately complex components through the development lifecycle, and collaborates across disciplines to deliver robust, high-throughput solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with emphasis on software or computer engineering.
  • Typically 2 or more years of relevant software development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience gained through internships, co-op assignments, academic projects, or professional engineering work may be considered as part of the overall qualifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify software requirements, identify technical constraints, and contribute to solution planning.
  • Own the design, implementation, integration, and maintenance of moderately complex software components and algorithms.
  • Document interface requirements, design decisions, test strategies, and user-facing behavior for technical and end-user review.
  • Design components with throughput, robustness, maintainability, and diagnosability as core requirements.
  • Develop precise, production-quality code in C# and C++ for Windows and embedded Linux environments.
  • Create and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests; investigate defects and drive issues to verified closure.
  • Use debugging, profiling, logging, and code-analysis tools to resolve complex software and hardware-interaction issues.
  • Participate actively in peer reviews of requirements, designs, code, tests, and documentation, and provide constructive technical feedback.
  • Estimate assigned work, communicate status and risks, and deliver commitments with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Improve engineering practices, reusable components, development tools, and team documentation based on lessons learned.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less-experienced engineers, interns, or co-op students as appropriate.
