Within the Defense Sector, the Software Engineering Applications Department has an opening for a talented Software Engineer in its Huntsville office. This position focuses on the development of robust, innovative software frameworks, as well as the fielding, support, and maintenance of software products. Software products range from analysis tools/simulations, mission planning software, and components of mission-critical systems.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • 4-8 years of relevant technical experience or 2+ years with MS degree.
  • Proven track record of implementing software development principles.
  • Strong competency in software development in C++ and/or C#.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests with unit test frameworks.
  • Aptitude for the technical skills required for software development, configuration management, and software quality engineering concepts.
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills along with a personal drive for details and quality workmanship.
  • Aptitude for the technical skills required for software test and software quality engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with applicable industry standards (MIL-STD-882E) is a plus.
  • Candidate is expected to accept constructive feedback from more senior software team members.
  • The ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robust C++, C#, and Python software under the direction of a senior software engineer.
  • Assist with creating and executing unit and integration tests on software components.
  • Perform as part of an agile software development team for tasking and progress reporting.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and bugs in a timely manner.
  • Other software development duties as assigned.
  • Use GitLab software pipeline for performing configuration management and automated testing.
  • Direct communication with customers, end users, and team members will be required on a frequent basis.
