About The Position

Kaizen Approach is currently seeking a Software Engineer (SWE) to develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, algorithm development, large data manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems. In this role, you will work individually or as part of a team to review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, documenting test results. You will resolve software problem reports, applying software development and design methodologies suitable for the specific development environment. The position involves providing specific input on system design, such as hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and leveraging Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products in place of new development. Additionally, you will conduct requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components, ensuring the successful integration and functionality of the software in line with documented requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications.
  • Specific experience working in cloud environments, including distributed Big Data stores (e.g., HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table) for at least three (3) years at 15% FTE.
  • Capability to design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features, including complex algorithms adhering to strict timing, resource, or interface constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience with the MapReduce programming model and tools like Hadoop, Hive, and Pig.
  • Capability of debugging existing software to correct defects, modify software to adapt to new hardware, or enhance overall performance.
  • Experience working in Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) environments.
  • Ability to integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments, coordinating with engineers to meet interface and performance requirements.
  • Experience with serialization formats like JSON and/or BSON.
  • Capability to develop data queries and complex database or data repository interfaces for both existing and proposed data solutions.
  • Additional experience in cloud-based and NoSQL technologies.
  • Ability to oversee software development teams, ensuring work meets process constraints.
  • Ability to perform quality control.
  • Ability to coordinate software system installations.
  • Ability to monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.
  • Ability to provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development standards.
  • Ability to write or review technical documentation.
  • Ability to develop software solutions based on system performance standards, data analysis, and problem investigation.
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or four (4) additional years of SWE experience on similar projects may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
