About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team. This role involves analyzing requirements, contributing to user story creation, assisting in solution design, and developing/configuring code. The engineer will also be responsible for identifying and creating test cases, tracking and analyzing defects, and troubleshooting performance issues. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, along with 3 years of experience in software engineering. The role emphasizes experience with various front-end technologies, native mobile development, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks. The engineer will also provide L1 support and collaborate with product managers and backend teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or related experience.
Coding in TypeScript or JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as ReactJS, Redux, Angular, Backbone.js, and jQuery.
Supplementary technologies such as HTML, CSS, Git, Sass, Stylus, Webpack and JIRA.
Native Mobile Development (Android and iOS) using React Native and JSS.
Architecture front-end application solutions.
Creating JavaScript and React Native libraries when open source solutions do not exist to make the team's workflow easier.
Leading and training junior developers and contractors.
Working with product managers, backend teams, and inventory management systems to plan upcoming projects and provide feedback.
Providing L1 support to applications developed by the team.
Writing and maintaining unit and E2E test coverage for code quality using JavaScript testing frameworks and libraries such as Selenium, Jest, Jasmine, React Testing Library, Enzyme and Mocha.
Working with third-party analytics teams to implement analytics tools into the frontend to collect analytics, and improve user experience based on data.
Building, maintaining or resolving issues in CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Docker, Jenkins, and Bamboo.

Responsibilities

Performs requirement and scoping analysis by exploring relevant products/solutions from an existing repertoire that can address business/technical needs; assessing gaps, updates, or modifications between customer/business expectations and existing products/solutions.
Classifies the requirements into applicable types (for example - Functional/Non-Functional, Derived/Imposed/Emergent etc.).
Anticipates solution risks/issues during the requirements gathering phase and informs relevant stakeholders.
Recommends corrective steps for identified risks/issues.
Contributes to the creation of user stories for component/application/complex by leveraging knowledge of traceability matrix, risk analysis methodologies, cost analysis, business objectives, and classification of requirements.
Assists in solution design by ensuring processes/applications work in tandem for specific components/modules of a product.
Evaluates trade-offs while designing a component based on business requirements.
Assists in the conversion of High-Level Design (HLD) to detailed design using mock screens, pseudocode, and detailed functional logic.
Creates/configures minimalistic code for entire components/applications by selecting appropriate coding languages, frameworks, tools, and platforms.
Ensures business/technical requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability, and high-scalability needs are met.
Builds scripts for automation in CI/CD, testing, or other processes.
Implements telemetry features.
Applies security policy requirements during code development/configuration.
Identifies and creates test cases for components/modules by mapping customer requirements to test objectives.
Executes test cases to detect errors and defects.
Performs different types of testing using appropriate tools.
Conducts root cause analysis for defects and performance issues.
Tracks and analyzes defects for components/modules by following the defect life-cycle process.
Uses defect tracking tools and methodologies.
Performs regression testing.
Conducts root cause and corrective action analysis for defects.
Troubleshoots performance and availability bottlenecks to avoid recurrence of similar defects.
Provides L1 support to applications developed by the team.
Works with third-party analytics teams to implement analytics tools into the frontend to collect analytics, and improve user experience based on data.
Builds, maintains or resolves issues in CI/CD pipelines.
