About The Position

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by designing, developing, and maintaining secure backend services and cloud-native applications that support mission-critical operations. This role develops scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and AWS-based solutions while applying DevSecOps best practices to automate software delivery and infrastructure management. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, the role partners with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
Bachelor's degree and 7 years of software engineering experience.
Experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
Experience deploying and supporting applications within AWS cloud environments, including ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable tools.
Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing production systems.
Experience developing unit and integration tests.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with additional AWS services supporting cloud-native application development.
Experience working in Agile software development environments using Git, Jira, and Confluence.
Experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD mission applications.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and modern software engineering practices.
Develop and support RESTful APIs and backend services deployed within AWS cloud environments, including Amazon ECS, AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3.
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, testing, deployment, and release activities.
Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable automation tools.
Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security across cloud-native environments.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues using enterprise monitoring and observability tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, or the ELK Stack.
Develop unit and integration tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with DevOps engineers, front-end developers, product teams, and Government stakeholders to deliver end-to-end software solutions.
Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting application architecture, deployment processes, and operational procedures.
