About The Position

Gentherm is transforming the future of personalized passenger comfort with smart, integrated solutions through our Heating, Cooling and Pneumatic products. Software will be the key driver for the transformation of Gentherm across all our product lines. Gentherm is seeking qualified candidates for Software Engineer roles in the Expert Engineering Organization based in Novi, MI. This role will support the software development activities for projects across multiple product lines and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in an automotive setting.
• Experience contributing to software development projects within a team environment.
• Experience interfacing with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Basic knowledge of project management fundamentals.
• Proficient with (MISRA C) development of embedded real-time software using automotive standard tools (debuggers, emulators, compilers).
• Familiarity with automotive process standards (ASPICE, CMMI, ISO-26262).
• Experience with development, integration, and test of drivers and services in a platform architecture.
• Experience with Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, etc.).
• Familiarity with automotive electronics hardware, software and systems requirements, functional objectives, and validation methods and tools.
• Experience with agile tools and methods.
• Experience in problem identification and resolution.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with automotive process standards (ASPICE, CMMI, ISO-26262)
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for software planning and task management
• Experience in use of Siemens PLM tools such as Polarion
• Experience with automotive communications protocols such as CAN, LIN

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for automotive products, contributing to a robust and quality product.
• Support technical feasibility reviews and provide development effort estimates for assigned work packages.
• Participate in system requirement analysis with product management and the project team.
• Communicate task and work package status on an ongoing basis and raise risks to the team lead/project lead.
• Break down assigned work packages into implementable tasks and track personal progress against project milestones.
• Participate in project and Scrum meetings (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
• Contribute to delivery of software per the release plan and milestones defined by the team/project lead.
• Coordinate with cross-functional peers (systems, hardware, test) to align on task dependencies.
• Support communication with the customer on software topics as directed by the project lead.
• Design and develop embedded software features, drivers, and services within the assigned platform architecture.
• Conduct and participate in design and code reviews for own and other team members' work.
• Work with testing teams to ensure requirement coverage for assigned features and review/address test results.
• Adhere to Gentherm APQP and ASPICE requirements; track relevant task-level KPIs.
• Follow defined software task and evaluation criteria in accordance with Gentherm's software platform architecture for re-use.
• Ensure correctness and quality of own work products through self-review and adherence to team standards.
• Apply best-practice software development processes and technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, interns, or co-ops on specific tasks and process adherence, as needed.
