About The Position

Applied Materials is hiring a new college graduate Software Engineer in Chandler, Arizona. The role involves designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software for semiconductor equipment components and devices, with a focus on quality and functionality. The engineer will develop common software modules and libraries for use across products, create software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software issues, and communicate with internal and external customers about requirements, schedules, and troubleshooting. The role may involve technologies such as machine learning and AI.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a related field, such as computer science, information management, software or systems engineering, cybersecurity, or mathematics.
Proficiency in C/C++, .NET, C#, operating systems, networking principles, algorithms, and multithreading.
Proficiency in Agile development and rapid prototyping.
Strong object-oriented programming/design and design-pattern skills.

Nice To Haves

Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Experience with Python and AI/ML platforms and tools.
Knowledge of WCF and Windows Forms UIs.
Semiconductor industry experience.
Strong conceptual knowledge of software engineering and willingness to expand capabilities.
Solid understanding of the industry’s key business drivers.

Responsibilities

Design, prototype, and develop moderately complex software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices.
Design common software modules and libraries for use across multiple products.
Develop software documentation and test procedures.
Troubleshoot moderately difficult software problems and design and implement bug fixes.
Communicate with internal and external customers regarding requirements analysis, project schedules, and software troubleshooting.
