About The Position

ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join their Second Level Engineering team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a full-time, on-site position located at the William J Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace (WJHTCAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The role involves editing, developing, and adjusting existing Java code, managing applications in a Linux environment, developing automation code, converting Java middleware to containerized applications, and supporting software deployment and operations teams. Candidates must meet citizenship requirements, including being a US Citizen, Green Card holder, or Non-immigrant Work Authorization, having resided in the US for three consecutive years, and possessing a RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport. Relocation to within commuting distance of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, is required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT fields is necessary, with a substitution possible for thirty semester hours in mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Three to six years of experience is required, and NAS experience is desired.

Requirements

  • Core Java Development: Java, Spring Boot, and Maven
  • Containerization & Deployment: Containerization using Docker or Podman; including but not limited to developing, deploying, packaging, port mapping, networking, etc.
  • Familiarity with Publish/Subscribe messaging and enterprise messaging technologies such as JMS, Solace or Apache Camel.
  • Familiarity with Web services
  • Familiarity with Version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to navigate complex workflows; research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT fields, with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted in lieu of the computer science degree, depending on other qualifications and experience.
  • Three (3) to six (6) years of experience is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).
  • Must have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
  • Must possess a RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.

Nice To Haves

  • NAS experience is desired.
  • Testing & Quality: Test‑Driven Development (TDD), Test development using Junit and/or Mockito.
  • Ansible automation.
  • DevOps experience such as using Jenkins or Gitlab
  • Familiar with Java OOP design pattern
