About The Position

Voltra Energy is building the software platform for distributed energy, a unified control plane for BESS, EV charging, and DER fleets operating across North America. We're a small team moving fast, and our infrastructure is production-critical: milliseconds matter when interfacing across real-time markets and physical assets in the built world. We're a small, technical founding team. If you want to work on systems where the software has direct consequences on physical infrastructure and energy markets, this is that job. Our stack spans the full OT/IT boundary, from edge controllers running CODESYS structured text, MQTT telemetry pipelines, AI forecasting models, to the OCPP CSMS managing EV charging fleets. The problems are genuinely hard: real-time dispatch with hard latency constraints, hardware protocol abstraction across Modbus/DNP3/OCPP, and market integration with complex APIs. We're Interested In Engineers Who Work Across Infrastructure & Platform: data ingestion pipelines, cloud infra (IaC, Kubernetes, CI/CD), time-series storage, MQTT broker operations, ML pipeline orchestration Backend & Systems: API and service development, real-time dispatch and setpoint logic, TimescaleDB query performance, hardware abstraction layers General Software Engineering: strong fundamentals, good systems intuition, and the curiosity to go deep on a new domain fast. Requirements

• Production engineering experience, you've built and operated systems that matter
• Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward shipping
• Strong fundamentals in Elixir, Go, TypeScript, Java or similar
• Curiosity about the domain, energy markets, grid infrastructure, hardware systems
• Experience working with Terraform, Cloud CDK, and K8s
