About The Position

We are seeking highly skilled software engineers of all experience levels to join a dynamic team building the data analysis software to help drive the development of the world's next generation of smaller, faster semiconductors and consumer electronics in a long-term global growth industry. The software engineer position is responsible for the full lifecycle of software development, from gathering requirements specifications from internal and external customers, all the way through analysis, design, implementation, unit testing, and support of internal and external customers to maximize the usability of the software to solve their needs. The ideal candidate is a software developer who is able to analyze problems to assess root cause, collect and characterize data to gain understanding of system behavior, and understand the physical system which the software is responsible for driving. The Enterprise Business Unit (EBU) consists of professionals that develop and support many software products for the Onto Innovation tools and similar tools throughout the Semiconductor industry. The Software Engineer will be part of a core team that develops software for Semiconductor manufacturing data analysis.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Software Engineering (Exceptional candidates from other fields will always be considered).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Excellent object-oriented software design and development skills.
  • Proficiency in software development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor industry exposure.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Mastery and hands-on coding experience with a modern and mainstream programming language, such as C++, C#, or Java.
  • Experience or knowledge in cloud computing, big data analytics, and containerization technologies.
  • Experience with rich user-interface development.
  • Experience developing robust multi-threaded applications.

Responsibilities

  • Working with peers, customers, management, and marketing to design, maintain, test and deliver software solutions that ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Participate in product requirements definition with peers, customers, management, and marketing.
  • Estimate and develop software on schedule and with high internal and external quality.
  • Debug issues, determine root cause, and implement fixes in-house and at customer sites.
  • Provide excellent written and verbal communication of concepts, plans, status, proposals, designs, etc. to hardware, software, and mechanical design team members.
  • Understand and operate complex automation systems integrated to our inspection, metrology, and lithography systems.
  • Work with other engineers in cross-functional, cross-geographical development teams (US and international).
