About The Position

Space operations increasingly rely on the ability to turn complex data from multiple sources into operational insight that commanders can use quickly and confidently. As the Space Force moves toward its 2040 force design, command and control systems must continue evolving beyond rigid, stove-piped architectures into integrated environments capable of ingesting data rapidly, organizing it logically, and presenting it in ways that support timely operational decisions. Future success depends on systems that combine human judgment with machine-enabled decision support so commanders can assess threats, synchronize actions, and respond across orbital, terrestrial, cyber, and electromagnetic domains. As a Palantir Software Engineer, you will help expand mission applications within Maven Smart System by designing operational data ontologies, mission object models, and workflows that convert operational inputs into usable decision tools. This work directly supports execution of Space Operations Control Plan (SOCP), Space Operations Control Order (SOCO), and Space Operations Coordination Measures (SOCM) by improving how operators and senior leaders visualize, assess, and coordinate complex space activities. A key part of the role is building and governing Foundry data structures that connect operational events, electromagnetic spectrum conflicts, orbital activity, fires synchronization requirements, and command relationships into mission applications that support real-time awareness, clearly display conflicts, and strengthen decision-making during time-sensitive events. This position requires someone who can connect technical architecture to operational execution and improve space domain awareness, orbital deconfliction, fires integration, and command and control modernization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing enterprise data architectures, operational data models, or mission applications in complex environments
  • Experience designing operational data ontologies, object relationships, and data models within enterprise data environments such as Foundry
  • Experience building workflows, pipelines, and applications using programming languages such as Python, SQL, or TypeScript
  • Experience governing data objects and configuring workflows within enterprise data platforms
  • Experience translating user requirements into technical solutions that support operational decision-making
  • Experience contributing to technical design decisions within cross-functional teams
  • Experience with large-scale operational data platforms such as Foundry or Maven Smart System
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic mission environments with minimal supervision
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or Mathematics

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise operational ontologies, mission object models, and semantic relationships within Foundry or similar enterprise data environments.
  • Architect data products that directly support SOCP, SOCO, and SOCM mission execution.
  • Develop and maintain Foundry pipelines using Pipeline Builder to ingest, transform, integrate, and govern structured and unstructured mission data.
  • Configure workflows and applications that support space domain awareness, orbital deconfliction, electromagnetic spectrum conflict identification, and fires synchronization.
  • Build modular applications using Python, SQL, TypeScript, and Foundry-native development tools.
  • Develop graphical mission products that display operational conflicts, system interactions, and time-sensitive operational relationships.
  • Translate mission requirements into technical solutions that support commander briefings and operational decision-making.
  • Establish data governance standards that ensure mission object integrity, traceability, and reliability.
  • Mentor technical team members and mission stakeholders on ontology design, workflow development, and Foundry best practices.
  • Support testing, debugging, optimization, and sustainment of mission applications within Maven Smart System.
