Software Engineer, Wallet
About The Position
Robinhood is seeking a Software Engineer for their Wallet team to help build the future of finance by democratizing access to financial services worldwide. This role involves leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain to create secure, intuitive, and decentralized products for managing digital assets. The team operates at the intersection of traditional finance and web3, driving innovation in cryptocurrency and blockchain applications. The Software Engineer will be responsible for building and owning backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products, developing new features, and enhancing systems for secure and efficient trading of cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks. This includes designing scalable architectures, maintaining high-quality codebases, and collaborating with other engineering teams to improve technical standards. The role is based in New York, NY or Menlo Park, CA, with a requirement for at least 3 days of in-person attendance per week, emphasizing the company's belief in the value of in-person collaboration for innovation and community building.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in software development.
- Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures.
- Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.
- Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.
- Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering successful, end-to-end products and raising team-wide technical standards.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.
- Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet.
- Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards.
- Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction.
- Collaborate closely with client teams, product managers, designers, and external vendors to deliver reliable technical solutions.
