About The Position

The Unsecured Installments team is responsible for one of Upstart's core lending products, which assists borrowers in obtaining credit through a smooth, digitally native experience. This team manages crucial aspects of the borrower's journey, including offer generation, pricing, underwriting, funding, and the overall borrower experience. They collaborate closely with the broader lending platform that supports Upstart's operations at scale. Recent efforts have concentrated on enhancing borrower flows, refining pricing and rate flexibility, improving partnership experiences, and elevating the quality of the customer-facing experience. As a Software Engineer on the Unsecured Installments team, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing the frontend and full-stack experiences that borrowers directly engage with. Your primary tools will be React and TypeScript, enabling you to deliver polished, reliable, and high-performing borrower flows. You will work in partnership with backend engineers, product managers, and designers to integrate these experiences with the underlying systems responsible for pricing, underwriting, and funding. • Work across the stack to connect frontend experiences to backend services and APIs, contributing to full-stack features that span the borrower journey.
  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to scope, build, and ship features that improve borrower flows and reduce friction.
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, helping raise the quality and consistency of the team's frontend codebase.
