About The Position

The Browser Company is building a better way to use the internet with a browser that empowers users to grow, create, and stay curious. They are seeking a Systems Engineer to advance Windows support for Swift and develop new features that benefit internal projects and the broader Swift community. This role involves working with Swift as a core technology, collaborating with open-source communities, and solving complex technical challenges to redefine browser and cross-platform application development.

Requirements

• Operating systems or low-level systems experience: 5+ years of experience on Operating System or other low-level systems work.
• A passion for build systems and tooling.
• Systems thinker: motivated by solving hard technical challenges at the forefront of the industry, with experience on large, complex codebases.
• Pragmatism and problem-solving: motivated by nebulous problems, excited to work in a startup environment with quick product validation cycles.
• Time zone overlap with the team: at least 4+ hours of overlap with team members in the Eastern Time Zone.
• Resonate with company values.

Nice To Haves

• Some familiarity with Windows, MacOS, Android, or iOS.
• Linux, VR/AR, or gaming systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead technical projects for existing and new features across the Swift compiler, toolchain, SDK and frameworks for Windows.
• Port existing frameworks to Windows and fix Windows-specific bugs and tests.
• Monitor builds, investigating and fixing causes of failures in our Swift CI system.
• Maintain and improve support for platforms under development and ones that are currently unsupported (Windows ARM64, Android, etc).
• Build a macOS toolchain via GHA that we can use as an alternative toolchain in Xcode.
• Give back to the open source community by upstreaming work.
